From humble beginnings in a dilapidated home in southeast Portland, OUTPOST is forging a new direction for reggae music in the Northwest. This independent five-member band, is pushing musical boundaries by blending the dancing grooves of reggae, ska and funk with the fire of underground hip hop. OUTPOST is dedicated to producing upbeat music with a message of pure positivity.
Since 2006, OUTPOST has been producing music that's heated up dance floors all the way down the West Coast. Their energetic live performances can be described as nothing less than a smile induced dance party. With new opportunities arising almost daily, OUTPOST has been blessed to share the stage with many talented and popular musicians, including Anthony B, SOJA, Tribal Seeds, and John Brown's Body, Groundation, Blackalicious.
With the release of their new album "Year of Refinement", OUTPOST is poised to take their music to the next level. The album is an arsenal of lyrical firebombs, irie grooves, and top notch production that is the band's best yet (recorded by Dave Boyle at Union Sound Recording Studio). The highly anticipated new hotness, also known as "Year of Refinement," drops on August 18th at OUTPOST Block Party 7 in Portland, Oregon, with heavy hitters Afro Omega and Sean Anonymous.
The message is simple...
Love and Light. Peace and Positivity. Consciousness and Responsibility. Good Vibrations.
Aniana's (Ahn-yah-nuh) musical career first bloomed in Phoenix, Arizona where she sang harmonies in The Mighty 602 Band, a reggae backing band that backed legends such as H.R. (of Bad Brains), Ras Michael, and Danny Clarke of The Meditations. She also worked in the 9-piece hip-hop band Antedote, singing smooth melodies over jazz-infused beats. After moving to Portland, she’s collaborated with such bands as Philly’s Phunkestra, Ben Darwish’s Commotion, Marv Ellis, Funk N’ Roses, Yak Attack, and World’s Finest. Along the way she’s fallen in love with each style of music she’s performed and her new solo debut album, Chapters, reflects her passion and prowess of each genre. Her stage persona has been described as soul wrenching, powerful, sultry and inspiring with a 9-piece powerhouse band of Portland’s hottest musicians to match her infectious energy!
